What to Bring to Your NYC City Hall Wedding: A Checklist

City Hall weddings are wonderfully low-stress, but a few key things will make your day go smoothly. The main question is: what to bring to NYC City Hall wedding? Here's everything to bring so nothing trips you up on the way to "I do".
The essentials
Valid photo ID for both partners (not expired).
Your marriage license, which you picked up at your earlier appointment. Remember the 24-hour waiting period applies.
One witness, age 18 or older, with their own photo ID.
Your appointment confirmation from Project Cupid.
Payment for any fees, which is accepted in credit/debit card or money order.
Your rings (optional), if you're exchanging them.
The nice-to-haves
A small bouquet or boutonniere for a pop of color in photos.
A light touch-up kit, lipstick, a comb, blotting papers, for fresh photos.
A maximum of 4 adult guests, including your witness and your photographer
A backup outfit layer if the weather's iffy, especially for portraits outside.
A plan for after, a reservation or a spot to toast, so the celebration keeps going.
Your photographer, booked and briefed, so the quick ceremony is actually captured.

Arrive in time to account for any wait: the process inside takes approximately 50-60 minutes, whether you arrive at your appointment time, or ahead of time, the office operates on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as you have an appointment for that day.
Confirm who your witness is ahead of time so it's not a last-minute scramble.
