I was invited to photograph this session by one of the bride’s closest friends — a gift in itself. From the start, it felt less like a photoshoot and more like witnessing a reunion. The group brought so much emotional sunlight into the morning, and despite the gloomy NYC skies, their energy lit up the entire block.

They showed up in vibrant pinks, soft corals, and clean whites — a palette that looked beautiful against the stone of the New York Public Library. There was something about the contrast of their warmth with the stillness of the location that made the whole session feel grounded, celebratory, and deeply joyful.

Celebrating Without Overcomplicating

We didn’t need props, champagne flutes, or sparkle — just the natural movement of people who really love each other. We stayed mostly on the steps and inside the covered walkways of the NYPL, moving slowly and with intention.

This shoot was quiet in the best way — no rush, no pressure. Just a group of women sharing a moment in one of the most beautiful places in the city. This is why I love doing bachelorette party photoshoots in NYC that are more about connection than performance.

Do we need a permit to shoot at NYPL? No permit is needed for casual, respectful photos outside and around the building as long as there is no flash or tripods involved. I’ll help guide the timing and flow to make the most of the space without feeling rushed.

How far in advance should we book?

How long does a photo session last?
