The Kind of Joy That Brightens a City
I was invited to photograph this session by one of the bride’s closest friends — a gift in itself. From the start, it felt less like a photoshoot and more like witnessing a reunion. The group brought so much emotional sunlight into the morning, and despite the gloomy NYC skies, their energy lit up the entire block.
They showed up in vibrant pinks, soft corals, and clean whites — a palette that looked beautiful against the stone of the New York Public Library. There was something about the contrast of their warmth with the stillness of the location that made the whole session feel grounded, celebratory, and deeply joyful.
Celebrating Without Overcomplicating
We didn’t need props, champagne flutes, or sparkle — just the natural movement of people who really love each other. We stayed mostly on the steps and inside the covered walkways of the NYPL, moving slowly and with intention.
This shoot was quiet in the best way — no rush, no pressure. Just a group of women sharing a moment in one of the most beautiful places in the city. This is why I love doing bachelorette party photoshoots in NYC that are more about connection than performance.
Why the NYPL Was the Perfect Fit
The library gives you a softness that’s hard to find in the middle of Manhattan. The light reflects off the stone in a way that flatters every skin tone, and the symmetry in the architecture makes even simple moments feel cinematic.
You don’t need to know how to pose or plan a big production. This space holds you. Whether you want to celebrate with a small group or have a few bridal portraits on your own, the NYPL is one of my favorite places for sessions that feel classic without being too traditional.
Thinking About a Bachelorette Shoot Like This?
If you’re planning a girls’ trip or a wedding weekend in NYC and you want to remember it in a way that feels true to you — photos that feel like the in-between moments — I’d love to help you plan it. You don’t need a Pinterest board or a shot list. Just bring your people, your colors, and your energy.
We can meet at the library, walk through the city, or create something entirely your own.
FAQ – Bachelorette Photo Sessions in NYC
Who usually books the shoot? In this case, a friend gifted the session — which is such a sweet idea. But whether it’s booked by the bride or someone else, we’ll make it feel like the most natural part of your celebration.
Do we need a permit to shoot at NYPL? No permit is needed for casual, respectful photos outside and around the building as long as there is no flash or tripods involved. I’ll help guide the timing and flow to make the most of the space without feeling rushed.
What if it rains or the weather is gloomy? Sometimes that’s the magic. Cloudy light is soft and beautiful — and as you can see in this session, your joy and colors do all the work.
How far in advance should we book?
Ideally, 2–4 weeks ahead, especially if you're planning during peak wedding season or holidays! That said, last-minute bookings are possible: just reach out, and we’ll make it happen!
How long does a photo session last?
Most bachelorette sessions are around 1–2 hours, depending on your vibe and how many locations or outfit changes you’d like. We can customize the session length to fit your plans — from a cozy hour to a full afternoon exploring NYC.
Where should we take the photos?
Totally up to your vision! Hotel suites, rooftop bars, Central Park, SoHo streets, the Brooklyn Bridge — or all of the above. I can also help recommend dreamy, photogenic spots based on your style and timeline.
What should we wear?
Matching pajamas? Sparkly dresses? Street-style chic? Yes, yes, and yes. Wear what makes you feel good! Some groups go full glam, others keep it cozy. I’ll send you a What to Wear guide to help make it easy.
Can we include props or decorations?
Definitely! Champagne, balloons, themed signs, confetti, snacks: bring it all. I’m here to help you style the shoot to feel like you, not like a Pinterest board copy.
How many people can be in the session?
Most bachelorette shoots include 3–6 friends, but I’ve worked with both smaller and larger groups. If you’ve got a whole squad, just let me know and we’ll tailor it to fit everyone comfortably.
Can I book this for a girls trip or just because?
YES! These sessions are perfect not just for bachelorettes, but also for best friend sessions, birthday celebrations, or any girls’ getaway in NYC. You don’t need a big reason to capture your joy.
Let’s Make Something That Feels Like You
You don’t need confetti or a rooftop to make a moment feel big. This session is proof of that. If you’re visiting NYC or already here and want to document your weekend in a way that feels calm, stylish, and connected — I’d love to be your photographer.
💌 Reach out to book your NYC bachelorette photo session and let’s make something beautiful together.
