How to Plan your Felina Ridgewood Wedding: Culture and Elegance

In July 2025, S&M said "I do" at Felina in Ridgewood, NJ, and their day was a great example of how a venue's architecture and a couple's personality together create a visually unforgettable day. They wanted a modern Muslim wedding that felt candid, full of tradition, family energy, and cultural moments. As their photographer, we focused on presence over poses: from the first look, to candid family interactions, and an electric dabke dance that lit up The Treasury.

About Felina Ridgewood (Felina Wedding Venue)

Felina is a dramatic, restored bank-turned-event-space in downtown Ridgewood. Known for its marble details, soaring windows, wraparound mezzanine, and, even more fun, the original bank vault door, Felina's main room (The Treasury) feels grand without needing heavy decor. That makes it a fantastic backdrop for photos: architectural lines, mixed natural and warm ambient light, and multiple vantage points for a photographer to document a day (which makes it even more interesting and special!).

Quick venue facts

  • Address: 54 E Ridgewood Ave, Ridgewood, NJ

  • Typical seated capacity: flexible layouts commonly host ~150–200 guests (confirm with venue as things might change over time)

  • Standout features: marble columns, fireplace room, mezzanine for cocktail hour, bank vault door, tall windows that let in great natural light for portraits

  • Best for: couples who want a dramatic indoor venue with a modern, editorial look and easy access from NYC and New Jersey

Why Felina works for Wedding Photography

For documentary-style, candid photos, Felina is gorgeous. The architecture provides built-in drama, so you don’t need over-the-top decor. The mezzanine gives elevated angles, and the vault door + marble give you editorial portrait opportunities if time allows. For S&M, we used the mezzanine to capture portraits from afar, then moved into closer, more intimate frames near the fireplace during their couple session.

S&M’s Day — Highlights and storytelling moments

We began the day with a private first look in a sunlit corner of the venue, the fireplace room, a ten-minute pause that set a calm, joyful tone. M's emotional reaction was clearly visible, which made it very special, and that carried through into family portraits and the reception.

The night reached a peak during dabke, where family and friends brought energy and tradition to the dance floor. I photographed from the mezzanine and up-close, capturing the movement, rhythm, and joy. Because S&M prioritized candid moments, many of the best photos are unscripted, grandparents hugging, children twirling, and the entire room cheering.

Felina Ridgewood logistics: Getting there, Parking, and Travel tips

  • From Manhattan: plan for 60 minutes depending on traffic, allow extra buffer if you’re moving between NYC and Ridgewood on a wedding day.

  • From Newark (EWR): roughly 35-45 minutes.

  • From LaGuardia (LGA): 70-80 minutes.

  • Parking: Felina sits in Ridgewood’s village core where there are metered streets and public lots nearby. For large guest lists, recommend sharing parking/transport info on the wedding website and consider a rideshare pick-up plan.

Pro tip: build extra transit buffer into your timeline if many guests (or vendors) are coming from NYC, it reduces stress and keeps your vendors on schedule.

Ceremony & Reception options: how to plan your day at The Treasury

Ceremony setup

The Treasury’s vaulted ceiling and architectural lines are naturally dramatic, you can have an indoor ceremony right in the main room. If you want a more intimate feel, set up chairs to create a tighter aisle so guests feel close without obstructing sightlines.

Cocktail hour & mezzanine

Use the wraparound mezzanine for cocktail candids. It's perfect for guests to enjoy the venue, walk around and try the food, and gives your photographer great angles to document guests mingling, while the main floor resets for dinner.

Rooftop / Terrace

Some couples ask about balcony access, confirm availability with Felina’s events team. If the rooftop is available, it’s a beautiful spot for quick skyline portraits, weather permitting.

Felina Ridgewood Menu & Catering Notes

One of the top searches people run for Felina is its menu, and for good reason. Felina is known for an ingredient-led, seasonal restaurant program; event menus often highlight seasonal, locally-sourced items. If food matters to your guests, ask the events team for a sample menu and bar packages early in planning. Catering choices will also affect pricing per person, so lock down menu options as part of your contract review. Personally, I absolutely loved the quality of the ingredients and the cocktail hour was my favorite part!

Typical Costs & Booking Tips

What Felina Ridgewood wedding cost means? Venue pricing varies by date, guest count, and menu choices. Based on similar venues and sample listings, a ballpark estimate falls between $135-$300 per person, but the only reliable number is a custom quote from Felina's events team. When you inquire, ask:

  • What's included (tables, chairs, basic linens)?

  • Can you provide a sample menu and bar package?

  • Is there an on-site event manager or a recommended team?

  • Are there any ceremony fees?

Including a short pricing note in your planning conversation will prevent surprises later.

Photo Tips specific to Felina Ridgewood

What to plan so your images look their best? You can read some more unexpected tips about photography at your wedding in my other blog post, but here are some essentials that apply specifically to Felina Ridgewood wedding photography:

  • Alternate centerpiece heights. Tall centerpieces look spectacular in large spaces, but alternating tall and low arrangements lets your photographer capture guest reactions and candid table shots without floral obstructions.

  • Warm uplighting works wonders. Warmer tones photograph better in marble-heavy rooms; avoid heavy colored uplighting that casts strong tints on skin.

  • Use the mezzanine for storytelling angles. The mezzanine gives elevated vantage points, great for wide-room shots including one of all of your guests!

  • Schedule breathing room around transitions. Build buffer time between ceremony and cocktail portraits so you aren’t rushing golden-hour portraits or family photos.

Where to Stay Nearby (for out-of-town guests)

Ridgewood has charming local accommodations and easy nearby hotel options in Paramus, Wayne, and Fair Lawn. Suggest a few hotels on your wedding website and include rideshare or shuttle suggestions for guests arriving from Manhattan or the airports.

Recommended Vendors for Felina weddings

Felina works with an events team and preferred vendor lists. For the best result:

  • Hire a photographer who knows dramatic indoor spaces and how to work mixed light. (That's our specialty!)

  • Ask the venue about recommended DJs/bands experienced with cultural dances or any tradition you're trying to incorporate, so they can shape the sound and floor flow.

  • Confirm whether the venue requires insured vendors (spoiler: they do need COI) or specific vendor policies ahead of time.

Culture & Candidness

What made S&M's wedding stand out was how true it was to their personalities. They mixed cultural traditions, a focus on family, and a documentary approach to photography. They chose Felina because it gave them the elegant and classy backdrop they wanted while still feeling special and tailored to their taste. If you’re planning a Felina Ridgewood wedding, let your day reflect your story, then hire someone to document it so you can relive all those moments for a long time!
